Mohawk occurs as Native American language spoken in the United States and Canada. These are a portion of the Iroquoian family.

Phonology
According to healthy files available at http://www.ohwejagehka.com/lang.htm, a phoneme inventory appears to exist when as follows (applying IPA notation):

Consonants

  • There come there is no bilabials (unless of these numbers /w/ when labial like than velar).
  • It is indecipherable whether aspiration is phonemiOne hundred or even a realization of C + /h/; probably the latter when ‘new hampshire’ is /n/ + /h/, & ‘sh’ is /s/ + /h/ (non IPA ).
  • Listening to the syllabication of careful speech suggests that orthographic "ʦ" is indeed an affricative, since "tsh" corresponds to IPA — though it raises a wonder of how come non utilise one symbol for every one? (Fallowing 100%, by having such the little inventory, there are lots of Latin letters available!)

    Vowels

  • Length is contrastive.
  • Nasalization is contrastive.
  • There pop up to become the high & moo tone. (View tonal language.)
